My name is Akna Wijekularatne and I am a Biology major with a minor in Neuroscience. As a first generation student, I depended heavily on my teachers and fellow peers for advice and support. Through EOC, I wish to do the same for other students that are in similar situations. During my free time, I enjoy reading books, binge watching shows and spending time in nature! Hello! My name is Deanna, a Pre-Professional Biology student with a Neuroscience minor. I am a chair of the EOC because I am passionate about making education and resources needed to succeed accessible for all. No one should feel as though they are wandering through helpless uncertainty, and it is my goal to be an approachable, knowledgeable resource for those who need it. In my free time, I love playing violin, painting, and making new connections with people. As a part of the EOC, feel free to come to me for any questions or concerns. Hello AED, I am Chair of the Educational Outreach Committee (EOC) because I am passionate about motivating high school students to pursue their career goals. Academic success is possible for anyone with a dream and determination. At UNLV, I am seeking a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology. Some of my favorite hobbies include outdoor activities, watching TV shows, and cooking (send me recipes if you have good ones)! With that being said, I look forward to meeting more AED members at our EOC events.

Hello guys! My name is Marc Amandoron, and I am a biology major hoping to attend medical school. My dream is to become a pediatrician and to someday have my own clinic. I was born in Cebu, Philippines. I moved to Maryland when I was 5 and then to Las Vegas when I was 8. I like to assemble models and attend car meets during my free time. Whenever I am not studying, I make sure to spend quality time with my friends and family. I love meeting new people and am always ready to share snacks. As a proud member of the Wellness Committee, I am always willing to help any of you with stress and am here to listen. I look forward to seeing you guys at our socials and wellness events!

Hello everyone! My name is Hadash Brhan, and I am a Pre-Professional Biology Major. Upon graduation in 2020, I plan on attending Medical School. I was born in Ethiopia and moved to Las Vegas in 2010. Outside of school I love spending time with my family and friends, and binge watching my favorite shows (HIMYM, Friends, and Grey’s Anatomy). Hi AED, my name is Asli Ozdemir and I am currently a Pre-Professional Biology here at UNLV. After graduating, I hope to attend medical school. I was born and raised here in the Las Vegas valley. When I’m not studying, you’ll find me hiking, rock climbing, traveling, or hanging out with my friends and family. Hello AED! My name is Marie Hashitani, and I am sophomore studying Pre-Professional Biology, working toward medical school. I am a first-generation Japanese American, born and raised in Las Vegas. In my spare time, I enjoy travelling to unique cities and countries to learn about different cultures and experiences. When I am not travelling, I value my time with my friends and family members. With the Wellness Committee, I hope to be able to plan stress-relieving events for all AED members to nurture their own physical, emotional, and mental health. Hello AED! My name is Moira Vasquez, I’m a pre-professional biology major. After my undergraduate studies, I hope to continue on to medical school to become a family physician. When I’m not drowning myself in schoolwork, studies, and other extracurriculars, I enjoy sleeping, being idiots with my friends, listening to all kinds of music, playing video games, and singing (I go pretty wild for karaoke) at any given point. I also have two adorable dogs that I call my fatties, and I love to mess with them when they’re not being lazy. I’m extremely excited to be one of your humanitarian officers, and I look forward to meeting all of you at future AED events!

Hey AED! My name is Kian (key-on) and I am a senior majoring in Pre-Professional Biology. I will be taking a gap year to travel before medical school and hope to specialize in orthopedic surgery. I am a certified personal trainer and volunteer at high school weight training classes teaching good form. My favorite hobby is mountain biking and I have a Youtube channel devoted to it. I also love trail running, climbing, tennis, skateboarding and basically anything outside. I am excited to be a humanitarian officer and to meet my fellow AED members!

Hello AED! My name is Roberto Enamorado and I am a Pre-Professional Biology and Psychology double major with a Neuroscience minor. Like many of you, my current focus is centered on building an outstanding application package with the end goal of acceptance into professional school. I am currently a senior and am honored to be one of the humanitarian officers in this organization. During my downtime, I enjoy trying new experiences, hanging out with my family, road trips, and binge-watching random videos from how to make your car faster to making the perfect chocolate chip cookie. Hi AED, I’m Natalie. I am in my 4th of 5 years as a Biochemistry major with hopes to go to medical school upon graduation. When I’m not studying, you’ll likely find me outside hiking, at a coffee shop, or doing acro-yoga. I’m excited to plan events like the Rebel for A Day Pre Med Conference and Physician Appreciaton Reception to help high school students in The Valley and recognize physicians for their service to our community!

Hi AED! My name is Grace Petrykowski and I am a biology major with a pre-optometry focus. One of my major goals in life is to become an optometrist and start my own practice. When I’m not lifeguarding at UNLV’s rec center or studying at home, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, working out, watching tv, and eating chocolate. I’d be more than willing to share what I know about the optometry field with anyone interested (there’s always room for more)!

I aspire to be a General Dentist and ultimately transform people’s smiles to one they can genuinely be happy about. If I am not studying, I am most likely spending time with my family and friends, playing CS:GO, watching Game of Thrones, or rocking out to my favorite artist, X Ambassadors. I’m obsessed with yellow so if you see a girl on campus that’s decked out in yellow, that’s most likely me so don’t hesitate to say hello. Hi AED, my name is Candace Quinn. I am a sophomore majoring in biology with the goals of attending dental school. I was born and raised here in Las Vegas. I love all things Disney, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones. Most of my free time is spent shopping with my family, going to the movies, playing with my dogs, or doing something crafty. (Shhh…don’t tell the other pre-dental students, but I actually have a strong sweet tooth for many things, especially chocolate and ice-cream. Well I say I must live up to my nickname though, which is Candy, right?)

Hello, members of AED! My name is Hrag Artinian, and I am a sophomore at UNLV, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology, with hopes of becoming a general dentist in the near future. I moved to Las Vegas not too long ago, and along with my move, I developed an interest in hiking, eating, and going on road trips. Some of my favorite foods include sushi, Italian, and Korean BBQ. I think going outdoors is very stress-relieving and liberating, especially after a long, stressful semester. Some of my favorite places to visit include Zion National Park, Mt. Charleston, and Big Bear Lake. I am very excited to be your new co-chair for the Dental Committee of AED.
