Educational Outreach Officer
My name is Akna Wijekularatne and I am a Biology major with a minor in Neuroscience. As a first generation student, I depended heavily on my teachers and fellow peers for advice and support. Through EOC, I wish to do the same for other students that are in similar situations. During my free time, I enjoy reading books, binge watching shows and spending time in nature! If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me anytime! I look forward to work with all of you!
Educational Outreach Chair
Hello! My name is Deanna, a Pre-Professional Biology student with a Neuroscience minor. I am a chair of the EOC because I am passionate about making education and resources needed to succeed accessible for all. No one should feel as though they are wandering through helpless uncertainty, and it is my goal to be an approachable, knowledgeable resource for those who need it. In my free time, I love playing violin, painting, and making new connections with people. As a part of the EOC, feel free to come to me for any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with AED members to promote accessible education and group success!
Educational Outreach Chair
Hello AED, I am Chair of the Educational Outreach Committee (EOC) because I am passionate about motivating high school students to pursue their career goals. Academic success is possible for anyone with a dream and determination. At UNLV, I am seeking a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology. Some of my favorite hobbies include outdoor activities, watching TV shows, and cooking (send me recipes if you have good ones)! With that being said, I look forward to meeting more AED members at our EOC events.

Hello AED! My name is Moira Vasquez, I’m a pre-professional biology major. After my undergraduate studies, I hope to continue on to medical school to become a family physician. When I’m not drowning myself in schoolwork, studies, and other extracurriculars, I enjoy sleeping, being idiots with my friends, listening to all kinds of music, playing video games, and singing (I go pretty wild for karaoke) at any given point. I also have two adorable dogs that I call my fatties, and I love to mess with them when they’re not being lazy. I’m extremely excited to be one of your humanitarian officers, and I look forward to meeting all of you at future AED events!

Hi AED, I’m Natalie. I am in my 4th of 5 years as a Biochemistry major with hopes to go to medical school upon graduation. When I’m not studying, you’ll likely find me outside hiking, at a coffee shop, or doing acro-yoga. Hi AED! My name is Grace Petrykowski and I am a biology major with a pre-optometry focus. One of my major goals in life is to become an optometrist and start my own practice. When I’m not lifeguarding at UNLV’s rec center or studying at home, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, working out, watching tv, and eating chocolate. I’d be more than willing to share what I know about the optometry field with anyone interested (there’s always room for more)!
Hey AED! My name is Serena Torres and I am majoring in Pre-Professional Biology with a minor in Business Administration. I aspire to be a General Dentist and ultimately transform people’s smiles to one they can genuinely be happy about. If I am not studying, I am most likely spending time with my family and friends, playing CS:GO, watching Game of Thrones, or rocking out to my favorite artist, X Ambassadors. I’m obsessed with yellow so if you see a girl on campus that’s decked out in yellow, that’s most likely me so don’t hesitate to say hello. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the Dental Committee or just want someone to chat with. I am so excited to meet such an amazing group of individuals!
Hi AED, my name is Candace Quinn. I am a sophomore majoring in biology with the goals of attending dental school. I was born and raised here in Las Vegas. I love all things Disney, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones. Most of my free time is spent shopping with my family, going to the movies, playing with my dogs, or doing something crafty. (Shhh…don’t tell the other pre-dental students, but I actually have a strong sweet tooth for many things, especially chocolate and ice-cream. Well I say I must live up to my nickname though, which is Candy, right?)

Hello, members of AED! My name is Hrag Artinian, and I am a sophomore at UNLV, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology, with hopes of becoming a general dentist in the near future. I moved to Las Vegas not too long ago, and along with my move, I developed an interest in hiking, eating, and going on road trips. Some of my favorite foods include sushi, Italian, and Korean BBQ.
