Dental Chair
Jacob Habashy
Hello AED! My name is Jacob Habashy and I am a Biology major with hopes of attending dental school. During my free time, I enjoy traveling to new places and learning new things. If I am not studying, you can usually find me out with my friends going on adventures or catching up on the newest Netflix series. I love meeting new people, so if you see me around campus, don’t be shy and come say hi!
Optometry Co-Chair
Sophia Araujo-Hernandez
Hey! I’m Sophia and I’m super excited to be a co-chair for AED’s new committee! I’m a senior graduating in the Spring of 2018, and I’ll be attending Ohio State University College of Optometry in August where I’ll be pursuing a double MS/OD degree. I helped start this committee because our aspiring eye doctors need support and I wanted to help shed light on the field of optometry and it all it has to offer. I’m looking forward to educating people about the field and encouraging other members to look into it as a career choice. When I’m not in class, I’m either working in Dr. Tseng’s lab with my biofilms, looking for new restaurants to deplete my meager checking account, or crying over instagram memes. If you have any questions about optometry or want to send me memes, hit me up!
Optometry Co-Chair
Rodnell Batac
Hi AED! My name is Rodnell Batac and I am excited to be a co-chair of this new committee. I am a pre-professional Biology major with a Psychology minor and I’m planning to attend Optometry school in the future. I’m currently in my 4th year of undergraduate studies and will be graduating in the Spring of 2018. I, along with Sophia, decided to start this committee to help pre-optometry students, like us, with finding relevant volunteer work, shadowing, and other opportunities related to Optometry. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, playing tennis, hiking, and watching Vine compilations on Youtube. Also, I work in Dr. Frank Van Breukelen’s Lab and I’m currently doing research on Tenrec eyes. If you have any questions about Optometry or the committee, feel free to contact me. I absolutely love meeting new people, so don’t hesitate to say hi when you see me!
Humanitarian Officer
Kimberly Lai
Hello everyone! My name is Kim and I am excited to be a part of the Humanitarian Committee as well as AED this semester. I am a pre-professional student with the hopes of attending medical school one day. Aside from my studies, I enjoy trying out new foods, chilling in coffee shops, catching up on crime shows, etc. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, and I have taken a liking to playing singles tennis (anyone out there wanna play?) and challenging myself to a new hiking trail every once in a while. Anyways, I hope to be of great help to AED and feel free to contact me if anything!
Humanitarian Chair
Dafhney Ferrer
Hi AED! My name is Dafhney Ferrer and I’m a junior pre-professional bio major. After graduation, I hope to go to medical school, so that I’ll eventually be able to say “It’s a beautiful day to save lives” before I walk into work every day. In the moments when I’m not studying, I like to make birthday presents as an excuse to craft (and buy ridiculous crafting supplies), play PokemonGo as an excuse for exercise, and write Yelp reviews as an excuse to eat out constantly. If you see me around campus, feel free to say hi or recommend a place for me to review on Yelp!
Animal Welfare Co-Chair
Sabrina Atterbom
Hey guys, my name Sabrina Atterbom and I am a Pre-Professional Biology major here at UNLV, hoping to head to Veterinary school after graduation in the Spring of 2019! I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico — yes, New Mexico is in the US, and moved to Vegas at 14. Animals are my passion, and I have dreamed of becoming a veterinarian for as long as I can remember. I spend the majority of my free time at the gym, (I love crossfit and bootcamp) or with my two Australian Shepherds, Marlee and Sassee. I am also very proud to call myself a member of the Honors Rebellion on campus, where students take on obstacle courses like the Tough Mudder together. I love the outdoors, sports, spending time with family, and watching Netflix. I cannot wait to see all of your smiling faces at the Cat Clinic!

Take advantage of all it has to offer. I am a pre-medical student, getting a degree in pre-professional biology and plan on attending a medical school in 2015. I also tutor in the library at night, so feel free to come by anytime. My interests outside of school include hiking, camping, riding motorcycles, long walks on the beach ;], and movies. I love MOVIES and its a nice break from all the science classes we have to take. My advice, don’t be afraid to ask others for help (we all start somewhere) and get involved, you will not regret it!
