Research Committee Officers

Co-Chair
Maggie Louie
Hi, I’m Maggie Louie, and it’s a pleasure to continue serving in AED as a co-chair for the research committee. Some of my hobbies include photography, volleyball, and binge-watching shows. As I plan on going to medical school, I think it’s important to be able to ask big and complex questions not just within healthcare, but also about the world around us. My passion in research initially stemmed in trying to understand and eventually find solutions for environmental issues, and I hope to use my lab experience to connect these problems to medicine. My goal is to help spread awareness about prevalent health issues and concerns through the discussion and use of research. Please feel free to reach out if you are interested too! :)

Officer
Nicolas Keshishian
Hi! My name is Nicolas Keshishian, and I am pursuing a BS in biological sciences here at UNLV. I am extremely excited to help spark interest in research among all my fellow AED members. I currently work as an undergraduate research assistant in the Tseng Lab here on campus. The main bug that I work with is Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogen that greatly hinders the quality of life for humans with cystic fibrosis. I lead my own funded project and help other graduate students with their projects to study a wide range of topics regarding our bacteria. I love working alongside others who are passionate and vibrant; that’s why I love working in research, and I hope to help you guys experience that too!
